How to get to The Quarters Wairata

Wairata is about 45km south of Opotiki, and about 110km north of Gisborne.
The Waioeka Gorge road runs through the Waioeka Scenic Reserve, with magnificent hill and river views. Take care driving as there are often rockfalls on the road.                                                                     

Once you are in the Gorge the only side roads are at Oponae (Waiata Rd) and at Wairata. The Wairata turnnoff is about 10km on the Gisborne side of Oponae/Waiata.

Our turnoff will be on your right if you are coming from Opotiki, on your left if you are coming from Gisborne.

When you have driven over the first bridge at the turnoff from the State Highway, follow the gravel road then turn right into Redpath Rd and onto the bridge that crosses the Waioeka River. As you come off the bridge, turn hard left and continue to the end of the road.

The Quarters is about 5km from the State Highway. Just keep going until you get to the end of the road.

Please note that Redpath Road does not continue to the Wairata Stream.

The formed road ends at our gateway, so continue on up our drive, past the sheds.

The Quarters is the green building on your right, our house is up the next little hill in amongst the trees.
